AESTHETIC TRAINING IN THE UK - BAPRAS Aesthetic Working group
2nd December 2017
BAPRAS commissioned and distributed survey of aesthetic training in the NHS across the four nations. The survey consists of 9 questions and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
Why is a survey of this nature required now?
· The NHS is in a crisis point of funding and capacity, increasing demand in conjunction with restricted finances mean we are operating in unprecedented times of difficulty balancing clinical need and availability of resource.
· There is political interest (Andrew Lansley Bill), professional interest (RCS England certification ), regulator interest (GMC credentialing), and public interest (increasing demand and restricted NHS access) in the quality of aesthetic surgery provision nationwide.
· For various reasons the exposure of current trainees to clinical cases has changed. By surveying the trainees, TPDs and making an assessment of logbook numbers we hope to create a nationwide picture of current exposure.
This survey aims to assess our current practice in the provision of aesthetic training, highlight areas of excellent practice and come together to propose some national standards and ways of working to reduce variation.
We very much look forward to your responses and rely upon you all to promote the trainee survey locally.
