This live stream session explores the interdisciplinary treatment of complex lower extremity wounds. The course also aims to identify the limitations of current therapies used in general surgery and discuss the opportunities of microsurgical techniques. Finally, an overview of the costs and benefits of amputation versus the salvage of limbs will be presented.
Guest professor, J.P. Hong, MD, PhD, from Seoul, South Korea, will detail his extensive experience with free autologous tissue transfers to salvage lower limbs that otherwise may have been amputated. He will shed light on recent developments and successes in the field of wound care as well as advancements that lay on the horizon.
